my life revolves around very little things these days, but it sure take up loads of time.


pros and cons of working:

pros
1. it's a really REAL world.
2. nothing gets a hell lot of kick out of me hearing boss say "that's nice, are you proud of it?"
3. i have my time to go for my own r&d on the topic of 3d
4. no submissions stress
5. it's not my own work, i can really focus on the thing i'm doing instead of hell multi-tasking.
6. it's really a 9-6/7/8/9 job

cons
1. gaining innocent weight (i really hate this)
2. claustophobic small office spaces
3. risk getting screamed at by big boss
4. OT w/o pay
5. miserly pay (pretty peanuts)
6. no design freedom (but i like seeing my boss's design, no concept but beautiful)
7. the feeling of being watched all the time


i have the can't wait to get back to school feeling but also the can i stay here feeling. a few friends told me they are not sticking to design in their future career. it's bloody tough, the hours put in and the pay. what really goes the mile in this field is passion. passion. passion.



i wonder what shit will the lecturers throw to us when we get back to school. oh, same lecturers all over again. same people.



designing lifestyles is a so much better solution than their crap.

it suddenly dawned to me that there is too much to learn in the design world, too much for me to handle.


i'm currently into 3D and graphics. been doing nothing but 3D since my attachment istarts. 3D modelling is an interesting subject. there is so much to learn, the camera composition, the lighting physics, the feel of the texture, the environment. all in all if well mastered 3D can be an iron rice bowl. =)

me : what is one quality that a good designer must possess?
june : feel. to feel is very very important.



i had a chat with my boss over lunch in the meeting room. it happened a week ago when i had to skip lunch with vans due to some submission datelines. it was inevitable we met june, for she ate her lunch in the office everyday. bracing myself for a very awkaward lunch with june, it turned out to be otherwise when she gave us some insights on the fast-forward world of design.



"the school has brainwashed the kids."



she said i had guts.

why i chose interior design was not an accident, nor was it by chance. it was planning and sheer hard work all the way. seeing other people live in comfort makes me happy, providing them physical shelter in comfort makes me satisfied. it's what i've want to do, doing things for people.


yet i'm still learning to love unconditionally. it's a really difficult thing to do. when i think of how much i love my parents, i'm almost convinced that i love them unconditionally. but then again it is really the conditions in the first place that makes me love them unconditionally. so what makes me love them unconditionally? it's the conditions, which again in fact makes me love them with condition/s.

we may be wary of others' tongues wagging, but often it is our lips that we must caution.


i've been thinking over this sentence for weeks now. growing up my mom has always told me to control myself, i can't have a hold over other people, but i must always always control myself. it was a hard way, no doubt, and many a time i held back that anguish. but little by little i learnt to tame that wild demon. with time. time is the method! haha.

i went through piles of litter today, picking up what JCWILL has been wanting to throw out - materials!


materials are very important to us students because of the availability of it. you see, most supppliers won't entertain us knowing that we only want it for our precious material board.


it's the first time i'm over the moon picking up after people's trash. like they say, one man's trash is another's treasure. loads of suede samples! i'm so happy. i like the feel of it so so much. it's warm.


i'm envisioning mom's rage when it's sitting in my house tomorrow. after her spring cleaning. wahahaha. me and vans is going to take a cab to bring back the loot tomorrow.

you know, my boss told me something important out of all the scoldings she has packaged neatly for the colleagues in the office -


"My young friend, a good designer must be able to think in 3D and not 2D. That's the mistake that most designers make, thinking in 2D. That's why they never make it."


since aaron has brought it up i thought i will ponder over it. it's really cheem, don't we all think in 3D? i might pluck up the guts to ask june about it again. curious.
