gambling gummy bears!
gosh it's so adorable, i love them so much i'm eating a few bears now.
yup. this is the first slide. our new brief is to uncover the night life that many Singaporeans lead. not surprisingly (like you and me), more than 40% of the nation are wide awake after midnight. so what we have to do is to unravel the social issues that insomnia in Singapore brings (like, Geylang etc).
so i went to Geylang to take photos. ok more juicy ones on Geylang later. day 1: the immediate night i went to my housing estate to take photos of ahemm, juicy things that people do at night. like this little Genting at my house downstairs which has been going on for years.
the gambling den
it was hard being a spy lah, it's like, if kena surely kena jialat jialat. so i took more photos of uncles chugging beer at the local kopitiam, which they gave me strange stares. then i took photos of people excercising at night. so it was quite a feat walking around, my ankles were swollen after that.
nevertheless i could hardly make it to school the next day (much less said being on time)
day 2: i went to an illegal night market. all thanks to vincent, it was an eye opener as i have never seen anything like it before. the closest was the jurong night fish market. but that was legal. what issues does this bring? of course it is a lot of issues, it's ILLEGAL. i can see the potential of space in it.
i bought 3 packets of my favorite mushrooms for $1.80 :D
these trucks are their income.
then we went to Geylang! as the night was still pretty young, we went to eat dim sum. the dim sum power one ok! we ended up eating so much.
1. scallop porridge (slurps)
2. herbal chicken
3. deep fried prawn wantans
4. har gao
5. spicy sweet and sour crab! (very cheap, 8 bucks)
and we spent about 30plus? wooo. i wanna go again! oh this part of Geylang is safe one, very open, by the roadside and roads very wide. can eat durians nearby somemore. this is the part i enjoy most about Geylang.
of course i was excitied about seeing those trannys and hookers but i felt a tinge of fear too. got pimps uh. taking photos secretly was very hard! like my mum say, lest they take us to be the spys from suspicious wives. so we drove around and took some pictures. i saw a real gambling den (illegal!) but i felt scared too because those people looked very serious so i didn't take any photos.
most of the hookers i saw was hmmm. not very pretty i guess? some china women and fat ones at that. of course you may argue that china women are pretty. but hmmm. zero sex appeal to me. and i saw a hooker wearing cheong sam -.-" tell me where is the appeal when she's plump. mama san maybe?
and i saw a student! a real student. probably that was the most "culture shock" of it all as i don't think it would happen. this girl wearing her school uniform was walking gingerly along the shophouses when we were making jokes about her being mistaken as a hooker. she disappeared into one of the stairs leading to the brothel. and we shut up after that.
there was a lot of hookers standing alongside of dark alleys. so i took a few photos and one of the hookers reported us to her pimp, who thought we were looking for trouble. thank goodness nothing came out of it. now this stretch of hookers were exceptionally pretty but i did not take anymore photos.
then it was taman jurong next since there were a mac and a nightclub together. a family orientated space and a seedy night club merges together. seems like a pretty interesting place.
that marks the end of tuesday, which of course i did not make it to school on wednesday. i diligently did my 6 pieces of posters.
so i went to school to print today and watch my spongebob squarepants season 1. nice day today, a sense of accomplishment.
since i have no school tomorrow, i will take the time to enjoy this 3 days of holidays! yayness. will hit the gym tomorrow again. speaking of gym i guess i seriously need that nike stretch tights. doing aerobics with shorts was seriously embarrassing when i keep mooning the lady in front of me when i do my crunches. oh man. money please drop from the sky!
have a good weekend everyone :D
my favorite korean actress Jung Ryeo Won. you may remember her from my lovely kim sam soon. she plays the very sickly, very angsty ex-girlfriend.
p/s: giordano quite power uh, angela baby and jung ryeo won are both models of the clothes label Giordano.
angela baby without make up here. she looks amighty like ann kok!
my BFF the panda
she's 19!
you may remember this running "poop monster" from msn chatting. anyway i had no idea what its name was initially until shaojie called it "momo". momo it shall be then.
i was toying with the idea of it hanging from my purse but then again $10.90 missing from my purse might not be a good idea since i'm tight now.
so we walked to selegie road and had our dose of soya bean. it wasn't too bad i guess. wanted to go mustafa to get my training tights but nah, it might not be a good idea since it was so far. but! we walked to laselle to "chill" and chit chat (...find a toilet too, actually) and finally we walked to bugis and parted our ways at the mrt.
quite an interesting evening i must say, since yuhui, aaron, shaojie, weiqiang and me have never been out together before.
p/s: school is starting i hate school i hate school i hate school.
Time is too slow for those who wait;
Too swift for those who fear;
Too long for those who grief;
Too short for those who rejoice;
But for those who love...
Time is Eternity.
