My friend once told me that while he is growing up, his mother taught him how to treat girls with the right attitude. From the way I look at him, he had certainly grown into this young man that many girls would love to fall head over heels with.

Every girl has an ideal man. But when the One comes, not many would flash out a checklist and start ticking against it. Is there a universal standard of man that the ladies like? As Chris Rock would have it, every woman will claim that any type of guys would appeal to different ladies, but there is one type of men that the ladies would not love: the cheap man. Yes, the classic miser.

It might be nice to be frugal, but when a man’s gotta spend, a man’s gotta spend. There is no way out of it. Nobody loves a cheap man who’s not willing to spend the few cents he has on his girl.

I started this blog entry with the goal to draft out the ideal man in my mind, but I see that I have digressed. My ideal gentleman would be one that puts the interest of the lady (singular or plural) before him. At the age of seventeen, I look around me and I think I lived in a man mirage of boys. I do think I’ve mixed up my words. Gentlemen would be a better word. Alright, most boys I know do not behave like gentlemen.

When there is an available table in the cafeteria, the guys rush for the table, not to protect it for the girls, but for themselves. At this moment I am imagining how the gentlemen rush over to the table and wait for the girls to come over, flipping out the chairs and tucking it in with the ladies in the seats respectively. They then absent themselves to find another table for their own. Of course, I’m imagining things again, this scenario might even never ever happen (I’m still hoping though). It is not without a fight that they reluctantly give up their place. The ladies of today have translated from the past a damsel, to today’s warrior.

Gentlemen exist rare, but once in a while we do find a rare gem among the raw charcoal.
